Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is an evidence based approach that helps calm the nervous system by working with both the mind and the body. We gently tap on specific acupressure points while focusing on a difficult feeling, thought, and memory, which sends signals of safety to the brain and helps reduce emotional intensity.
Think of it as emotional first aid. Instead of talking yourself out of anxiety or pushing feelings away, tapping helps your body settle so your brain can actually process what is happening. Research shows it can lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels, reduce anxiety, and decrease symptoms of trauma and stress, often more quickly than talk therapy alone.
