About Me

Hi!

I'm Stephanie DiMaggio, LCPC and Founder of SMD Therapy.

I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology. Prior to grad school I thought I wanted to be a lawyer, but after an internship at the county courthouse I decided against it (for so many reasons).

Therapy isn't about "fixing" you. You're not broken. My goal is to help YOU feel empowered to be a better version of yourself and to take meaningful steps to live a more fulfilling and authentic life. I will build on your strengths to help you facilitate growth.

You might ask yourself why can't I just read a self-help book, listen to a podcast, or vent to my friends? Is therapy really necessary? Therapy is absolutely not necessary AND it gives you an unbiased party who knows ways of helping you dive deeper or ways of effectively reducing your symptoms.

I specialized in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person Centered Therapy, and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).
